Race Director, Boston Marathon
Dave has served as the race director of the Boston Marathon since 1988. He is also a philanthropist, author, accomplished athlete and motivational speaker. Dave is also the founder of DMSE Sports, Inc. which has organized more than 1,000 mass-participatory endurance events since he founded the organization in 1981. Dave’s accomplishments include running across the United States in 1978 and completing 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents at the age of 62 (last year) At TEDxKenmoreSquare, one week before the 2019 Boston Marathon, Dave will be discussing lessons learned over his long career. Dave will be running his 47th consecutive Boston marathon in 2019, just 6 months after having open heart triple bypass surgery.
Greg Skomal, PhD
Director, Massachusetts Shark Research Program
Dr. Gregory Skomal is an accomplished marine biologist, underwater explorer, photographer, and author. He has been a fisheries scientist with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries since 1987 and currently heads up the Massachusetts Shark Research Program. He is also adjunct faculty at the University of Massachusetts School for Marine Science and Technology and an adjunct scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). He holds a master’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and a Ph.D. from Boston University. For more than 30 years, Greg has been actively involved in the study of life history, ecology, and physiology of sharks. His shark research has spanned the globe from the frigid waters of the Arctic Circle to coral reefs in the tropical Central Pacific. Much of his current research centers on the use of acoustic telemetry and satellite-based tagging technology to study the ecology and behavior of sharks. Greg has been an avid SCUBA diver and underwater photographer since 1978. He has written dozens of scientific research papers and has appeared in a number of film and television documentaries, including programs for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, BBC, and numerous television networks. His most recent book, The Shark Handbook, is a must buy for all shark enthusiasts. He is a Boston Sea Rover and a member of The Explorers Club; his home and laboratory are on the south coast of Massachusetts.

Jermaine Jones is an Amtrak Station Manager at New York Penn Station and the founder of the non-profit Brothers Making a Difference, New Jersey. Steven Rauch, MD
Professor, Harvard Medical School
Dr. Rauch is Professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Research in the Department of Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School. He is an Otology Division member and Vestibular Division Chief in the Otolaryngology Department at Massachusetts Eye and Ear (MEE) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where his clinical and research interests are in combined disorders of hearing and balance, including Meniere’s disease, autoimmune inner ear disease, sudden deafness, and migraine. Dr. Rauch is currently a member of the Research Advisory Board of the American Otological Society, the Medical and Scientific Advisory Board of the Vestibular Disorders Association, and the Meniere’s Disease Advisory Board of the Hearing Health Foundation. Dr. Rauch is also Professor in the Liberal Arts Department at Berklee College of Music, where he teaches a course on the Science of Health and Wellness.

Elizabeth Turnbull Henry

A proven corporate sustainability leader, she makes the economic case for Massachusetts to lead the nation in environmental quality, innovative policy, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Prior to joining ELM, Elizabeth managed climate, energy & environmental programs at the global retailer Adidas. She designed the greenENERGY Fund, investing in energy efficiency, renewables and distributed energy. She also advanced the sustainability of new construction, co-led the team that set Adidas’ industry-leading targets for sustainability, and raised Adidas’ voice on national and global climate policy. Elizabeth was an EDF Climate Corps Fellow in 2010. She also consulted to the US Department of Energy, worked as Sustainability Lead for a Massachusetts-based residential construction firm, and led international travel programs to over 30 countries.
Elizabeth has an MBA and Masters of Environmental Management (MEM) from Yale University and a BA in Environmental Policy and Economics from Colby College. Raised in West Virginia, she now lives in Jamaica Plain with her husband and two children.
President and CEO, El Mundo Boston
El Mundo Boston is New England's oldest Latino media outlet which recently celebrated its 45th anniversary with a 10,000 celebration at Fenway Park. Over the past 35 years, since he graduated from B.C. High, he has been dedicated to working at El Mundo Boston, a family business which has included radio, newspaper and large events. He is also known for his work with the Boston Red Sox, his tv shows on Channel 7, and for his involvement in the community.

Georgies Mgode, PhD
TB Program Manager, Apopo
Dr. Georgies Mgode is a Research Fellow specializing on zoonotic diseases including tuberculosis (TB). He is among the pioneer researchers at APOPO TB. He pursued his doctoral degree on TB detection using rats at Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology, Germany, and identified Mycobacterium tuberculosis odour volatiles detected by rats. He received a Presidential Medal of Invention and Scientific Research, from H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of Tanzania. He has broad research experience and expertise through training at renowned institutions such as the Royal Tropical Institute (Netherlands); Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology (Germany); Marseille University (France); and Royal Belgian Institute for Natural Sciences (Belgium). He has described a new Leptospira serovar Sokoine causing human and animal leptospirosis. He is a member of the National Steering Committee for Public Health Pesticides, and National Malaria Vector Control Sub-committee.
